Utility Foreman Job Description
About Us:
We are a Heavy/Highway General Contractor based in Chestertown Maryland. The Company owns and maintains a fleet of over 300 pieces of equipment used in the construction of utilities (sewer, water, storm drain), earthmoving, and asphalt paving with several gravel pits and two asphalt plants.
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Utility Foreman to supervise and coordinate the daily activities of a construction crew. The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 5 years of experience, expertise in operating machinery, and a strong knowledge of safety codes and regulations. This role requires excellent leadership and organizational skills, as well as proficiency in installing and repairing water, sewer, and storm drain lines. Responsibilities:

Supervise and coordinate daily activities of a crew consisting of 5-7 construction employees.

Complete daily time reports to track equipment, labor, and material quantities.

Conduct daily inspections of equipment to ensure proper maintenance and operation.

Adhere to company, state, and federal safety guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.

Identify hazards associated with assignments.

Communicate with site owners daily to schedule upcoming activities.

Maintain a professional and courteous attitude towards co-workers, supervisors, site owners, and the general public at all times.

Maintain a clean job site daily.
Qualifications:

Must pass a drug screening.

Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record per company standards.

Minimum of 5 years of experience as a utility foreman.

Proficient in operating all machinery required to complete various tasks.

Ability to read plans, shoot and understand grades, set up pipe lasers, and record daily elevations for as-built purposes.

Ability to install and repair water, sewer, and storm drain lines.

Capability to install proper shoring for excavations up to and over 15 feet in depth.

Knowledge of safety codes and regulations.

Strong organizational and leadership skills to plan, direct, and evaluate the work of others.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
- Ability to consistently lift up to 50 pounds.
