Yard Laborer / Operator

About Us:
We are a Heavy/Highway General Contractor based in Chestertown Maryland. The Company owns and maintains a fleet of over 300 pieces of equipment used in the construction of utilities (sewer, water, storm drain), earthmoving, and asphalt paving with several gravel pits and two asphalt plants.
About the Role:
The Yard Laborer/Operator maintains, organizes, and administers the storage yard.
Essential Duties:
- Load trucks – Dump Trucks, Lowboys, Rollbacks, Truck Trailers
- Unload delivery trucks and organize material in a neat and orderly fashion
- Mix and screen materials
- Keep stockpiles organized by material type. Ensure stockpiles are kept in a neat and orderly fashion
- Provide daily fuel tank readings to the Office
- Lock and unlock yard gates as necessary
- Keep materials, pipe, fittings, signs/posts, barrels, etc. neatly organized and palletized where
practical. - Keep all job-specific material neatly organized
- Mowing and weed trimming – Use of weed killer may be necessary
- Maintain the grounds free of trash and debris
- Maintain all roadways, parking areas and staging areas
- Maintain an accurate inventory of seed, fertilizer, tack, straw, Curlex, etc. and report to the Office
- Provide basic maintenance of equipment - checking fuel and fluid levels and cleaning as necessary.
At no time will trash be allowed to collect in the equipment cabs - Remove snow and ice from all shop and office entrances and keep all travel ways clear
Other Duties:
- Perform other duties as instructed by the supervisor.
- Track inventory of survey supplies
Education / Experience:
Working knowledge of use of excavator, front-end loader, skid steer, fork lift and roller preferred, but willing to train. Must be able to read, comprehend and write in English.
Physical Requirements:
There are no light duty assignments in this position. Employee must maintain the necessary health and physical ability to perform the duties of this position. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test. Random drug testing is performed monthly. Must be able to lift and carry 75 pounds or less.
Other Requirements:
Work duties will be performed out of the yard at David A. Bramble, Inc. Employee must have reliable transportation and possess a valid Driver's License.
Working Conditions:
Applicants must be able to perform heavy physical labor outdoors in all types of weather.
