Heavy Equipment Operator
About Us:
We are a Heavy/Highway General Contractor based in Chestertown Maryland. The Company owns and maintains a fleet of over 300 pieces of equipment used in the construction of utilities (sewer, water, storm drain), earthmoving, and asphalt paving with several gravel pits and two asphalt plants.
About the Role:
The Heavy Equipment Operator will be responsible for having the skill and knowledge of heavy equipment operation techniques in order to perform the construction of heavy highway projects.
Key Responsibilities:

Have a working knowledge of and ability to operate:
-
Heavy general construction equipment, like an excavator, grader, bulldozer, off-road truck, backhoe, and front-end loader.

Heavy road-work equipment, like paving equipment, street sweepers, forklifts, boom, water, and dump trucks.
-
Heavy large tools such as rollers, chain saws, trenchers, generators, compressors, tampers, rollers, cement saws, core drills, augers, and sandblasters.

Hand tools

Services and performs general and preventative maintenance on equipment.

Transports and delivers materials.

Maintain cleanliness of the work area.

Perform other duties as instructed by the supervisor. Examples may include laborer duties and/or removing snow from streets, walks, and parking lots.
Requirements:
-
Have a valid Maryland Class A Commercial and Class D Driver’s License

Pass a pre-employment drug test
Preferred Experience & Education Requirements:
-
1 – 3 years of heavy equipment operation experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.
Physical Requirements:
-
Must be able to perform physical labor indoors and outdoors in all types of weather.
Additional Requirements & Information:

Random drug testing is performed monthly

Working conditions include restricted movement, intense noise, extreme temperatures, and a dirty environment.
