David A. Bramble, Inc. was honored to lead the $34 million construction of the MD 304 and US 301 interchange, a critical infrastructure improvement project designed to enhance safety and streamline traffic flow. The project replaced a dangerous at-grade intersection with a modern interchange that has since improved conditions for the 22,000 motorists using US 301 and the 5,200 daily travelers on MD 304, including a significant volume of commercial trucks, which account for one-quarter of the traffic on US 301.
This project improved safety and traffic flow at the MD 304 and US 301 interchange through the construction of a new two-lane bridge carrying MD 304 over US 301. The bridge replaced the previous at-grade intersection, reducing high-speed conflict points and creating a safer, more efficient route for motorists traveling through the area.
Additional improvements included two single-lane roundabouts on either side of MD 304 to help manage traffic speeds and reduce congestion, particularly for commercial truck traffic along US 301. The project also included a 25-space paved park-and-ride facility and bicycle-compatible shoulders on the MD 304 bridge, supporting commuter access and safer multi-modal travel through the interchange.
